Tom Selleck Pizza

Detroit Style Pizza with Pepperoni, Jalapeños and Honey

I’m just gonna come out and say it. Tom Selleck is hot.

I know you don’t disagree.

There is something so tantalizing about his rugged old man-ness. The more wrinkles he gets the better he looks.

He is literally the only person in the history of the world that sexifies a mustache. (Except Sean Connery…but he’s dead). It’s completely astounding.

Excuse me – speaking of which…Why was Selleck never Bond?? Hello Hollywood, you face planted there.

Tom is just quintessentially adorable. He never goes out of style. He would be so cute holding a gun, double 00 style. Did you ever see “3 men and a baby?” Tom Selleck – holding a baby. Drool.

Or how about when he shacks up with Monica? I mean, that is a couple that should have carried over into real life.

So what do ol’ Tommy and I have in common? Well, we are both from the Big D! Detroit style, baby.

I’m a Detroit style baby. Tom’s a Detroit style baby. Tom looks good holding babies. I love Tom. I love babies. And I loooove Detroit style pizza. So you can decipher this natural progression all for yourself.

1 pizza feeds 4-5 hungry adults or 10-12 babies. Takes 6-6.5 hrs (which includes dough making/resting time)

Ingredients for Pizza

  • Make my tastefully insane beer dough (follow instructions through “Place in a large, clean bowl covered with a kitchen towel for 4 hours”)
  • 1/2 cup of my all purpose all day marinara (or your fav pizza sauce)
  • 8-12 oz brick cheese or low moisture mozzarella, cubed
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • Large pinch Maldon sea salt (about 2 tsp)
  • 1 package large, freshly shaved pepperoni (I used boars head)
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced in thin rounds, deseeded
  • 1 tbsp honey (I love Trader Joes raw Washington honey)
  • EVOO

Method

After you’ve made the beer dough (and you wont regret it) let it rest for 3-4 hours.

In a high lipped black or steel pan (9×13 ish), grease heavily with olive oil. Press the dough into the pan – it should take up about half the size. Cover and let this rise another hour.

After that hour spread the dough out to fit the rest of the pan. Press it down firmly to fit corners. Cover and let rise another 30 min. Patience Iago.

Preheat oven to 475 degrees Fahrenheit.

Add the cubes of cheese all over the top of the dough, especially along the edges and corners. Cover this and allow the dough to rise into the cheese for about 30 more minutes.

Uncover and add oregano and salt. Then drop on clumps of marinara sauce. Dress this with your pepperoni and jalapeños.

Bake for 15 minutes.

Turn the oven up to 500 degrees and bake another 5-8 minutes. Remove from oven and drizzle with honey.

I’m sure Tom will love me back after he tries this Pizza. Sexy Selleck Pizza.

Disclosure: I’m happily married. Sorry Tom.
