The Pink Door

Pacifics with a dry, crisp rosé

Each year, by car or plane, by summer or winter, by hook or by crook, we go to Seattle to settle our eastern Washington scores and cravings, by eating and drinking the best of the west.

Hold on…Spokane, too, has some pretty hip joints..Some favs:

I could go on, and I will but – we’re here to reminisce about a meal so special, so delightful, so sensually pleasing – and it was in the Emerald City. AANNNNNDDD get this – My little love, Humberto got to join me! Inside! This is The Pink Door.

Amazing props to any place that is pup friendly!

The problem is…I haven’t been through an airport door in 9 months. I haven’t jetted over the 5 fabulous hours in my red four door either. YOU know why. This damn virus.

However, when God closes a door, he opens my appetite…So I dream of a time when I was here.

The Pink Door, located unassumingly in Pike Place Market off a little side street, has a rather humble way of presenting itself.

For a restaurant that serves oysters direct from the sea, branzino topped with chimichurri of your dreams, and a wine list that could bring a tear to your eye – if you blink…you might just miss it.

Do you wanna see the branzino? Of course you do..

I would caution you to not only order this majestic, tongue tantalizing fish, but you’re gonna wanna start with some succulently sweet west coast pacifics (the oysters) accompanied by a glass (or 3) of crisp rosé.

You may then opt for the house roasted garlic and toast appetizer. You would not be wrong if you ate it for breakfast for the subsequent 3 days…

Then, the Penn Cove clams. I don’t have words. But I am scorned to eat clams ever again. They are absolutely the embodiment of what a perfect clam dish should be.

As you can see The Pink Door is just one diamond in Seattle’s misty, rainy rough. And I for one, can’t wait to walk through that door again.

Other favs? Go directly to Momosan (Morimoto’s new sushi joint) or Cantinetta (and order the bolognese).
