Mummy’s ‘Mummosa’

Cherry, Thyme Mimosa

My daughter calls me ‘mummy’. Not, actually though. I mean, it’s what I’m teaching her to call me. She can’t speak yet. Also, I’m not British, but I really like the way it sounds when English babes say ‘mommy’ – ‘mummy.’ So, anyway.

Hello, I’m mummy. Welcome to my blog.

One of the most virtuous parts of being a mummy is that you are no longer pregnant. Which, of course, means you are free to soak your belly in the effervescent bubbles of Cava and Sekt and Lambrusco and Prosecco and Champagne.

I love Napa. Napa makes Mumm sparkling wines. Catch my drift?

This is a cocktail for all my mummies out there. Dummies are, of course, encouraged to drink as well.

Makes 4; Serves 2; But you probably are gonna need to make 4 more

Ingredients for the Cherry, Thyme ‘Mummosa’

  • 1 bottle of Mumm (Brut Reserve Rosé Sparkling Wine) (buy 2, because you’ll want to make this again)
  • 1 lemon, juice and zest
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme, leaves pulled from stems
  • 8 pitted black Amarena cherries in juice
  • 2 oz bourbon, divided in half (so 4; half oz) such as Bulleit (optional)

Method

This is the easiest thing you will ever make.

Pull out your glass wear. I used 4 champagne coupes (for pizzazz).

Drizzle a bit of the cherry syrup in the bottom of the glass. Pour in 4 equal portions of the Mumm rosé bottle.

Top each with bourbon and a squeeze of lemon.

Garnish each with 2 cherries, lemon zest and thyme leaves.

Have some mummy friends over for brunch and get a babysitter. Bottoms up:)

Need some snacks with your mummosa?? Try ultra delicious Reuben ‘Bites’. Also, fun for a party are (naturally) my Camembert and Fig Phyllo Party Bites. Ooo, or what about Party Wings with Strawberry, Viognier Glaze?
