Das Stein Haus

Das Stein Haus

If you’re someone who is interested in 3rd dimension Germany, fitted with stereotypical lederhosen, larger than life photographs of sterile white beaming smiles overlooking a grassy alps scape, accordions blaring away the reminiscent tones of la macarena…This is the place for you.

Brown pleather benches stick to the thighs of Spokanites, while bag pipes and typical austere walls (padded with tales of the motherland) envelope the hall.

But beyond this outward beer stein ornamentation…in the dark, demur interior…there is more. So much more.

The käsespätzle – a homemade German ‘noodle’ topped with a piquant cheese sauce, fresh ham and chives.

The schnitzel – a flattened pork or chicken steak breaded and fried, then topped with a decadent brown gravy.

The sausages…homemade wursts. Brats composed of garlic and herbs. Served with various haus made mustards.

The pretzel. Just stop. Beer cheese sauce? Yah dahling.

It’s a weird spot. This twilight remnant of western Europe. But go. Embrace it.

Or buy yourself a ticket to the real place. It’s that good.

Oh yea, and the beer is on point too. Hefe’s, Oktoberfest’s…it’s all köstlich.

Wanna make your own? I’ll take you for a little trip to the motherland right here with my Homemade Giant Pretzels with Bavarian Raclette.
